EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specific modality that helps clients decrease negative beliefs about the self and disturbance around traumatic memories. This could be anything from chronic misattunement with a caregiver growing up to war or sexual assault. Repeated studies have shown that clients can make lasting and profound treatment progress in EMDR much quicker than previously thought possible in the world of trauma treatment.
Psychodrama
Psychodrama used in an individual or group context that allows individual to role play or act out intrapsychic or interpersonal events in one’s life. What needs to come out will come out in psychodrama.
Expressive Arts
Painting, drawing, poetry, and music used in a therapeutic context can aid clients in deep self-discovery and self-expression. Traumatic events can sometimes impede our ability to access the language parts of our brain. Expressive arts can built a bridge between the abstract and the concrete therefore fundamentally shifting perspective.
Sand Tray Therapy
Sand tray therapy allows a person to construct their own world using miniature objects in sand. The scene created acts as a mirror of the client’s life and helps to resolve struggles, gain clarity, and increase acceptance of self. It is helpful for couples, adults, and children.
